Notwithstanding this, the use of ICT to cast the vote is still in some sense a critical question. While some countries have adopted it due to several reasons (to reduce ...

This new vision of landscape changes both, the interests and the needs of the persons involved and the use and management of the landscape itself. The objective of this paper is to study landscape conservation in a particular mountainous area of Italy, which requires an institutional, non-generic approach. Using the contingent valuation method, we investigated whether there is a relationship between experts' and casual observers' evaluations of ten different scenarios in the Leno Valleys. Results show that direct knowledge of the site characteristics increases the awareness of the importance of the site, significantly impacting on conservation choices and strategies.

In (e-)vote we trust an enquiry on confidence in automated elections

Alongside reforms in the traditional pap er-based electoral systems, many countries show growing interest in automated means for casting ballots and tabulating the results. But rather than on certaint ies on the feasibility and the advantages of e- and i-voting, most national experi ences converge on the preoccupations advanced by pressure-groups and by some researchers: do automated elections change the composition of the e lectorate and thus the quality of democracy? The paper analyzes the issue of citizens’ trust in automated elections as a dependent of several ascribed and attitudinal facto rs. Data are drawn from a computer-assisted telephone survey carried out in D ecember 2007 involving 1600 electors of the Autonomous Province of Trento, whic h through project ProVotE sponsors the largest programme of touchscr...

Ireland with a top-down decision acquired voting machines that, following a heated debate in the public opinion, had to be stored and never set up. Great Britain experimented different technological solutions, also in elections with legal standing, but gave up the prospect to use e-voting on a large scale. The Netherlands, that were accustomed to voting by means of direct recording electronic machines, had to face the issues raised by a pressure group and reintroduced paper-and-pencil ballots. Finally Estonia offered internet voting as one of the possible voting channels, gaining more and more confidence by its citizens. The comparison of these cases shows the crucial role played by values, meanings and expectations towards the institutions and towards the duty/right to vote in shaping the (in) success of e- and i-voting schemes.
Celebrity Endorsement to Reinforce Brand Value: An Exploratory Analysis in the Outdoor&Mountaineering Industry

In the "outdoorm secondly, because the responses to our research questions have given us valuable insights into the topic, enabling us to contribute to the debate on the evolution of branding in a commodity category in which consumer experience is key and the effects of community and the need for innovative communication methods based on the creation of brand credibility and loyalty are very evident.

Data are drawn from a computer-assisted telephone survey carried out in the Autonomous Province of Trento, which through project ProVotE sponsors the largest program of touchscreen-based voting in Italy. Alongside socio-demographic variables such as sex, age, education, and occupation, we describe how socio-political attitudes such as trust, participation, and identity affect the propensity to vote by automated means. We conclude that, based on the binomial and multinomial logistic models we implemented, our data support the hypothesis of existing divides between those who are favourable to automation in elections and those who are not, the main cleavages being age and level of education. Furthermore, a greater degree of trust in the generalised other is needed in e-voting but not perceived in i-voting, while both voting procedures appeal tho...

Starting with an overview of the current debate in the Italian and in the international arena, it considers the viewpoint of different stakeholders: bureaucrats, politicians, civil society, pressure groups and the market within four case studies (Estonia, Ireland, Great Britain and the Netherlands) to highlight the direct and unexpected consequences of changing a long established habit in such a delicate matter as voting. It also draws data from the largest Italian experimentation of electronic voting in a supervised environment – held in the Autonomous Province of Trento between 2004 and 2009 – to report on the attitudes and on the actual behaviour of electors facing the electronic option. The deployment of multivariate regression models on survey data supports the hypothesis of existing divides between those who are favourable to automation in elections and those who are not, the main cleavages ...

Increasing these indicators has positive effects not only in terms of time and effort spent by citizens and enterprises to access and use the services provided by the administration but also by triggering the optimization process of the back offices of the administration. The Municipality of Trento is launching an innovation project aimed at increasing the number, usage and interaction level of online services with the objective of moving all relevant services and processes managed by the Trento administration online. This approach is based on the innovative concept of a "one-stop shop" for interactive online services, which the Municipality wants to define and implement with the help of the Trento innovation ecosystem; going beyond the classical concept of a unique access point, Trento wants to deliver a single access point to online services that is simple, trusted, complete, connected and open to better serve the innovation needs of this core enabler of the smart city.
